  83. is used by programmers to take care of all the file I/O in their programs.
  84. For example, Datacat and a couple of other mailing list programs use Btrieve,
  85. and Bsupport provides another means for working with data files created by
  86. these other programs.  It has the ability to work with Btrieve records stored
  87. in binary and to view and search for binary keys.  It also lets you copy data
  88. between Btrieve files or to ASCII files.  AREACODE.BTR is a sample data file
  89. for Bsupport.

  98. number field; to remove spaces from the beginning of fields; to change a
  99. character (eg: from "," to "~"); and to change "FirstName LastName" to

  182. In contrast, most other database programs access the disk each time a record is
  183. added, deleted, viewed, etc. This makes an in-memory database program
  184. particularly good for machines with no hard disk. Capacities are 32 files per
  185. directory, 2000 records per file, and 32 fields per record.

  188. program easy to learn. Other features that increase efficiency include record
  189. duplication, field blanking, and pop-up tables for reference during data

  203. in, you give each document a serial number.  Then you record the serial number

  205. when you want to find that document, you can search on any of those fields, get
  206. the serial number and find the document filed in numerical order.
